On December 30, 2025, WineSpeak.ai, a Napa Valley-based AI technology startup, announced that Thomas Fogarty Winery had become its newest customer. The winery's website carries a custom AI agent named Thomas, described by the company as an AI concierge and wine curator for the estate.

According to the announcement, Thomas creates a personalized, interactive experience for website visitors, guiding them to the winery's experiences, wines, and membership options. The agent is built on what the company calls conversational commerce, powered by natural language processing and retrieval-augmented generation. The company says the agent requires no downloads or training for visitors and operates around the clock.

The winery is an established estate by any measure. Per the announcement, Thomas Fogarty Winery was founded in 1981, is family-owned and operated, and sits on Skyline Boulevard in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Silicon Valley, known for estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A winery in that position does not need a website agent to be found. What it is buying, if the pitch holds, is availability: a knowledgeable answer at midnight, in the visitor's own words, tuned to the estate's voice.

Fogarty is one deployment in a deliberate pattern. WineSpeak.ai builds a named agent for each winery client, organized around three jobs the company calls the pillars of the direct-to-consumer wine business: tasting room and winery visits, memberships and subscriptions, and wine sales, including pairing advice. Its Jess agent for Jessup Cellars in Yountville and its Goose agent for Goosecross Cellars are covered in our companion report on hospitality AI.

WineSpeak.ai is led by founder and CEO Robert Noakes; the company's own site also names Joydeep (Joy) Sengupta as co-founder and advisor, and presents a page of current customers where its agents can be seen on winery websites.

A verification note, because this publication grades its own homework. Winery agents of this kind are embedded website widgets. When we checked the text of the Fogarty homepage on October 28, 2026, it carried no mention of Thomas, which is expected for a script-based tool and settles nothing either way. No performance figures for the deployment, conversion, satisfaction, or sales, have been published by the winery or the vendor. The announcement documents the partnership; the results remain unmeasured in public.
